2020, and the Homestead model(s)

H 19 model year 1 - 2020

For the first time ever we’ve decided to focus our offering to 1 model option. We’re doing this for a number of reasons. First, by focusing an offering, we have to chose and respect a few constants, the biggest is the form or shape of the house. When we do this - ‘fix the form’, we’re able to radically decrease the time normally spent adjusting the form. The benefit to this, is of course, a reduction in design time, and therefore design cost. Next, a fixed form allows for fully optimized sub assemblies - those assemblies being windows/doors, mechanical systems like fresh air and in-floor radiant heat. Fully optimized means that we are designing this system once for a climate zone/geographic area - and then we leave it alone. Another benefit , and the biggest of all - is cost! Total cost control is possible when operating in a controlled facility. Controlling portions of a fixed design is the same principle - it therefore focuses the efforts of construction into refinement, cost control measures, and quality - rather than an endless viscous cycle of creating a ‘one-off’ custom home.

We’re valuing value

At the end of the day, it’s about where the value lays. For the first time every, the baby boomer generation population’s ability to buy custom homes is dying off - and a new age of perspective emerges. The Gen X, and Millennial emerges as having less wealth, but also more flexibility and a new openness to innovation. Never before do we have less money saved - but never before do we have the best tools, concepts and technology to create smart solutions. This is our commitment - a commitment to creating designs that feature spaces that combat high cost, and deliver on what is important - human interaction and conntected-ness.

Timeline - for new models

It is our commitment to continually generate, build - and then share new models that feature our values of health, wealth - and wholeness. Starting in 2020, we’re developing, and building the next Homestead model, to be released in 2021. The point of developing and building the unit allows us to verify and vet the actual design - and also creates a data point. We’ll be releasing soon the design for 2021 - so stay tuned!
